ETSU Visiting Artist Lecture: McNair Evans

The Photography Program in the Department of Art & Design is excited to bring McNair Evans to ETSU next Friday, February 16 for studio visits with graduate students and a public lecture at 6pm in the Ball Hall Auditorium.  McNair grew up in the farming town of Laurinburg, NC less than 300 miles from Johnson City, TN, where he returned in 2010 to retrace his father’s life and legacy for his first monograph CONFESSIONS FOR A SON. He recently exhibited photographs at SF Camerawork with ETSU Professor Emeritus Mike Smith in a group exhibition exploring paths of mentorship and artistic collaboration.  He is a 2016 Guggenheim Fellow currently living in San Francisco whose ongoing work examines themes of shared experiences and identity.  Thank you to Tracey Morgan Gallery for generously sponsoring McNair’s talk and the DoubleTree Hotel for hosting his visit.  All are welcome and encouraged to join us for his lecture next week.
